Tehran: Iran has put forward six conditions as part of a new legal and strategic framework aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. This conflict entered its 23rd day on Sunday. The conditions proposed by Iran are: establishing a new legal framework for the Strait of Hormuz; guaranteeing the prevention of any recurrence of war; closing down U.S. military bases in the region; paying reparations to the Islamic Republic of Iran; ending hostilities on all regional fronts; and prosecuting and extraditing media figures who harbor hostility toward Iran.

What are Iran's proposals?

These proposals from Iran come just one day after U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on Saturday that the United States is "very close" to achieving its objectives of "winding down" its military efforts in West Asia. He signaled that he is considering bringing an end to U.S. operations in the region. Citing an unnamed senior political and security official, Iran's Mehr News Agency reported that Iran is implementing a pre-planned, multi-phased strategy in its defensive struggle against the U.S. and Israel. The official emphasized that this strategy was formulated months ago and is being executed with a high degree of strategic patience.

The official stated that, having successfully targeted and destroyed U.S.-Israeli air defense systems and radar infrastructure across the entire region, Iran has now established "complete control" over the airspace of the Israeli entity. The official added that Iran intends to persist with its policy of "punishing the aggressor" until it has taught the U.S.-Israeli aggressors—and U.S. President Donald Trump—a "historic lesson." Furthermore, the official revealed that several regional parties and intermediaries have submitted proposals to Iran with the aim of bringing the conflict to an end. In response, Iran has presented them with specific conditions—stipulating that these prerequisites must be fully met and taken with the utmost seriousness before any agreement can be reached.

Till When is the War Expected to Continue?

Meanwhile, citing sources close to the White House, Axios reported that U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he is considering winding down the conflict; however, U.S. officials indicated that they still anticipate military operations continuing for another two to three weeks. Concurrently, advisors have begun laying the groundwork for negotiations so that any potential opportunity can be seized.

Working behind the scenes, Special Envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff are already engaged in formulating preliminary plans for diplomatic engagement with officials in Tehran. Officials have stated that any agreement with Iran would necessitate the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, addressing the Islamic Republic's vast stockpiles of highly enriched uranium, and establishing long-term constraints on its nuclear and missile programs, as well as its support for regional proxy militias and terrorist groups.
